A Long Time Coming

The book, THE long awaited book, is finally here!  It is hot from the press and ready to hit the market.  Make space for it on your bookshelf… it should get there soon.  If you cannot wait for the snail mail copy then just get it from the eBook page of www.mvuleafricapublishers.com.   So what is this book I am ranting so much about?

Changing A Nation cover

“Changing the Political Landscape of a Nation” portrays a life journey – for Africa, forKenya, and for yours truly, Ibrahim Omondi.  It is a journey that expresses my struggles with the underlying cross currents of political intrigue, economic misdemeanor, and social upheaval.  It reveals the rot, assassinations, murders, and corruption that we in this part of the world would rather push under the carpet as we put on bright Africa smiles (albeit hypocritical) and keep pushing forward.

Instead we need to stop.  Take stock. Review where we have come from, where we currently are, and where we hope to go. We need to acknowledge, even with the help of legal and political amnesty, that we have a rotten past that keeps speaking into our present and is likely to mess up our future.  Brutal examination of these issues and how they affect our communities, politics, the way we run business, and national economies will help us understand what we need to do.  In order to move on and become the kind of nations we want to be, we will need to break from these self-defeating tendencies.

“Changing a Nation” has taken over 7 years of journaling, praying, and writing. Of course it came with the help of my personal editor and dear wife, Diane.  It walks through the pains, the mayhem and the national upheavals Kenya has endured, but it also offers solutions and practical steps towards change.  Mindset and worldview change.  Intentional personal, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional overhaul for the next breed of African leaders.  It heralds a new era and a new beginning for Africa.

Here is a little sneak-preview:

“We must be willing to deal with ourselves, even ruthlessly, down to the rudiments of our being.  What are the spirits, giants, demons, witches or ‘whatevers’ that are buried deep within us?

“The spirits of our dedications have no regard to our education, position of power, spirituality, or exposure. When the spirits begin to speak, usually at a later stage in our lives, we lose control of ourselves, even our actions.  We do things that cannot be explained with rational minds.

“Changing a nation is a process.  It is a journey.  But the destination of a strong, healthy, united and prosperous nation is reachable.  We need to keep walking on the right path.

“Change must happen.  Will it start with you and me?”

~ Ibrahim
