A Time to Remember

moon and starsBeing in my family’s rural Kitale home is always refreshing. This time around it is extra special. Just over 30 years ago, standing outside on a bright moonlit night, I asked a special someone to marry me. A little over a year after that proposal, 29 years ago this Monday, we said the vows. Last night as we stood outside, enjoying the same moon, we remembered. . . . (okay–substitute candle for moon and use your imagination!!)candle light

It has been a fast-paced 29 years! Schooling, four wonderful children who are now adults, journalism, church, farming, mentoring leaders — any one of these would have been full time and fulfilling. Yet the drive and inspiration to handle it all has been knowing the Lord, and having my best friend, Diane, as my partner.

As we look to the next season I am greatly encouraged. We have many things to look forward to as we serve the Lord in this part of the world. For one, we are now not only parents, but friends of our children who are in exciting stages and transitions. If things go as planned, they will start to return to Kenya next year and the trend of empty-nest might just change to a full boomerang household.

During our 30th year of marriage, Kenya is also in her Jubilee year. It is good to live in a nation that is open to following the guidelines of biblical Jubilee. DOVE Africa continues to see growth;  relationships in God’s family are very rewarding.

Many thanks to all of you who have partnered with us! With God’s grace, the best is yet to come!
